Get rebates for security, home improvements

Nokomis East Neighborhood Association is proud to announce that we will give out three matching rebate grants for the year! Our first program will start in September, the second in the winter of 2026, and the third in the spring of 2026.
Our three matching programs include: Home Weatherization (starting in September 2025), Home Security (winter 2026), and Curb Appeal (spring 2026). All three programs are rebate programs where the participant pays in full, then we reimburse them for half of the cost of their home upgrade for up to $500. All grants are at a first-come, first-serve basis, and anyone who applies for a grant must not have received one of these three grants within the last three years. We usually have more people apply for these grants than we can give, so we will start a waiting list for each one. For any questions about any of these programs, please email: nena@nokomiseast.org 

Home Weatherization (September 2025)
Fall is usually a time for getting your house winter ready! The intent of this grant is to match expenses paid by property owners that are not covered by rebates provided by CenterPoint Energy, the Center for Energy and Environment (CEE), or Xcel Energy and create additional incentives to use these programs. As one volunteer calls it, this is the ‘cherry on top’ for those who are working with CEE or Xcel energy to get their home winter ready. Examples of what a person can apply for include: air sealing and insulation, HVAC upgrades to heat pumps, and solar panel installation.

Home Security (Winter 2026)
Back by popular demand is our home security rebate program! This program will open in the beginning of 2026 (think January to February). Applicants can use this grant to receive rebates for up to $500 to help protect their home. Examples of some eligible improvements may include, but are not limited to: steel exterior doors, security storm doors, alarm system installation, and exterior security cameras.

Curb appeal (Spring 2026)
Our most famous grant is the curb appeal matching grant. This one opens in spring 2026 (think April to May) and is open to homeowners, renters, and residential property owners of 1-4 unit multi-family properties. Grantees can use this rebate for exterior work such as painting, masonry, exterior lighting, etc. It’s nice to get an extra perk just for making out homes look great!

Housing Committee (First Tuesday)
We are excited to offer these grants because the community has requested that we continue them. All of these grants go through our housing committee. Our housing committee is volunteer run and meets on the first Tuesday of the month via zoom from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Please visit Nokomiseast.org for more information. We hope to see you there!
